Nupura Raavam 2014

In keeping its tradition of unique format, the second edition of Nupura Raavam was a two day festival held on 6th and 7th of December, 2014. The 2014 event brought together two art forms, Odissi, with its exotic manifestations of sculptures and Kuchipudi, with its vibrant dramatic elements.

DAY ONE (DECEMBER 6th, 2014)

Srujana - An interactive session with the featured artists was organized. The event provided a platform for dancers/dance lovers to probe into the imagination and innovations of the artists, who have and are pushing the boundaries of the form they practice. Surupa Sen and Bijayani Satpathy from the Nrityagram Dance Ensemble and Vempati Ravi Shankar were the featured artists for the day. The event was held at Saptaparni, Hyderabad.

DAY TWO (DECEMBER 7TH, 2014)

Nrityagram Dance Ensemble and Guru Vempati Ravi Shankar's troupe showcased their performances on day two held at Ravindra Bharathi, Hyderabad.

Nrityagram Dance Ensemble presented Sriyah, a decade of Dance Making, which is a compilation of excerpts from choreographic works spanning over 10 years. Sriyah was performed by Surupa Sen, Bijayani Satpathy and Pavithra Reddy.

Guru Vempati Ravi Shankar and his troupe presented Ksheerasagara Madhanam, a 51 year old dance drama that became a landmark in the history of Kuchipudi when it was first created in 1963.

Smt. Kavitha Kalvakuntla, MP, Nizamabad who is also the Founder-President of Telangana Jagruthi graced the event. On the occasion, SNA Awardee Sri Vedantam Radhesyam was honored with Gurusathkaram.
